We wish you a Merry Christmas

“We wish you a Merry Christmas” by Good Shepherd Prep students and younger siblings. Enjoy the drumming in the middle!

This is the time of year when our inboxes are filled with requests for charitable giving. With so many worthy requests it can be difficult to set priorities. But we all want to make the world a better place by assuring our contributions, large and small, have direct impact.

This Christmas season finds the town of Bafut, Cameroon, home of our Good Shepherd Academy, engulfed in oppression, persecution, and fear. Armed conflict continues unabated, forcing all Bafut schools to close. It is not unlike the situation Mary and Joseph endured in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago. Roman occupiers had imposed a despised universal tax on the Jewish people resulting in extreme poverty, terror, and conflict.

But now, just as then, there is reason to hope. “Into this darkness there came a bright light.” Our bright light this Christmas season is the newly formed Good Shepherd Preparatory School, safely located on the grounds of Good Shepherd Home in Bamenda. Twenty-six aspiring scholars are receiving daily instruction that will take them to the next level – enrollment in Good Shepherd Academy as soon as it is safe to open.

A special Christmas greetings for you. And yes, their younger siblings couldn’t resist joining in!

Your Christmas gift to these children, large or small, will encourage and support them on their journey. Items that can make a real difference in their lives today.
