Tendering, Winning and Saving!

The tendering process is underway for Phase I construction of Good Shepherd Academy. Three Cameroonian construction firms are submitting bids on July 10th to our missionary architect, Poul Bertelsen of MSAADA Architects. MSAADA has built over 750 schools, hospitals, and churches in developing nations over the last 30 years and we are indeed fortunate to be working with them.

Stay tuned for the news we have all been waiting for — our Groundbreaking Date on the beautiful mountainous Ring Road in Bafut, Cameroon. Thanks to your support long-held dreams of children across Cameroon and the children of Good Shepherd Home are coming to fruition. Their Dream, Our Mission, and YOU are Making It Happen!

Winning

We are delighted to report that Team Ambe’s Angels took FIRST PLACE in the Annual Durga Tree Walkathon to Eradicate Human Trafficking. Our team raised the most money, finishing above goal at $10,500. The support of so very many of you pushed us over the top and over the finish line. A hearty thank you to Molly Flewharty, Elizabeth and Michael Geitz, Brenda Ruello, John, Donna and Bandit Ross who walked their feet off for our Cameroonian children, and for virtual walkers Betsy DuBois, Toby Geitz, Sister Jane Mankaa and James Weis. Proceeds will be used for Phase I of JMGSA.

In addition, we have been awarded a very generous $7,500 grant from Christ Church in Short Hills, NJ to help purchase a generator for the Academy. Their continued support means a great deal to everyone who eagerly awaits the opening of GSA! Our deep appreciation goes to their ever faithful, ever supportive Outreach Committee.

Saving

To raise One Time Costs and Operating Expenses for Phase I, we are hosting the Good Shepherd Academy 2015 Sporting Clays Classic at Hudson Farm in Andover, NJ on September 26th. The morning shoot will include a hot breakfast, round of 100 clays, pig roast lunch and awards for shooters of all levels. There is something here for everyone, including a NJ Audubon Hike for non-shooters on the beautiful Hudson Farm property. So get ready to learn a new sport, enjoy a morning of clays with friends, or compete with US Open winners. Read the initial information and stay tuned for your invitation with details and exciting sponsorship opportunities!

As always, this summer we give thanks for each and every of you. You give us energy and hope for the new tomorrow we are creating together for children across Cameroon!
