And they’re off! The Annual Lacing Up for Freedom Walkathon will be held ONE MONTH from today in Ridgewood, NJ!

All funds raised by Good Shepherd Academy’s team, Ambe’s Angels, will go to build our new and much-needed Girl’s Dormitory at Good Shepherd Academy in Bafut, Cameroon! To date we have raised $6,080 towards our huge goal of raising $15,000 in this annual walk sponsored by Durga Tree International.

Secondary school in Cameroon is not mandatory resulting in a large gap between school capacity and the number of potential students. You can help change that!

EDUCATION yields a larger impact than ANY other form of help or aid we can give to improving health, raising income, promoting gender equality, and reducing overall poverty.

For every year a child goes to school, HIV rates decrease, income potential and employment rates increase, girls marry later, early pregnancies decrease, and health is elevated for the entire family.

In Cameroon there is only one teacher for every 45.6 primary school students. In SECONDARY SCHOOL the number increases to nearly 100 STUDENTS PER TEACHER.
