Low Cost, High Impact Education

There’s nothing better than sharing good news, and this “Report Card” on Good Shepherd Academy after 10 years of operation is indeed good news! In short, Good Shepherd Academy has developed into a model for low-cost/high-impact education in Africa.

The Academy costs $1,000 per student per year for room, board, tuition, and all programs — equivalent to a $65,000/year U.S. boarding school education.

Our school boasts both a rigorous academic program and an award-winning sustainable agriculture program. By combining safe housing and student support, students can complete secondary education and successfully transfer to university or secure living-wage employment.

Who We Serve

  • 85 students are currently enrolled
  • 55% of the student body is female
  • 100% of students receive a full or partial scholarship
  • Priority given to:
    • Orphans
    • Girls

Outcomes & Evidence of Impact

  • 100% national Level A exam pass rate
  • 100% graduation rate to date
  • 100% of first graduates progressed to university
  • Cost per student $1,000/year, demonstrating a highly cost-effective educational model

In a context where access to secondary education is limited by poverty and gender inequality, Good Shepherd Academy demonstrates that targeted investment can produce successful outcomes at a modest cost.

Congratulations to Dr. Churchill Che, the faculty, and student families. That’s quite a Report Card!

And we give thanks to YOU! Without you, none of this would be possible. THEIR DREAM, OUR MISSION, YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN!
