Prof. Sylvester Ndeso Atanga, MPH, MPhil, PhD, is a native of Mankon in the Mezam Division of Cameroon where he attended Sacred Heart College. Immediately upon graduation, he enrolled in Brooklyn Jewish Hospital and Medical Center in New York where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing and was licensed as an RN.

He then returned to academia at The City College of New York where he obtained an additional bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. This opened the way for a long career in Public Health, starting with a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Yale School of Medicine, a Master’s of Philosophy in Health Policy from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and a PHD in Public Health Medicine from the University of Ghana, Legon.

Prof. Ndeso has been a Health Administrator, Policy Adviser, Global Health Expert, University Professor and Health Researcher for the last 45 years. He is currently in Academics at the University of Buea and other institutions of higher learning in Cameroon. He is married with four adult children and is proud to be a founding board member of GSAA. He is equally committed and highly  devoted to continuing the dream to empower the poor and disadvantaged begun by the late Sister Jane Mankaa.
